Did you know that May is National Pet Month? Yes, and to honor our wonderful furry friends, 10% of all of my May sales are going to a very worthy charity- the ASPCA. The ASPCA was the first humane organization in the Western Hemisphere and their mission as stated by founder Henry Bergh is "to provide effective meand for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States." They work to rescue animals from abuse, pass humane laws and share resources with shelters nationwide. They also provide local and national leadership in three key areas: caring for pet parents and pets, providing positive outcomes for at-risk animals and serving victims of animal cruelty. You can get more information on these programs here.
There are many ways you can help this great organization - the first is to donate either one time or a monthly donation. With Mother's Day this weekend, what a nice gift to donate in Mom's name. Another way to help is by adoption. Last year, the ASPCA assisted in the adoption of thousands of shelter animals. Local shelters are listed on their website, why not give one of these special animals a place in your home and family? Another way to help is to get involved. There are many events, such as runs and photo contests where you can get involved or you can also walk down to you local shelter and volunteer.
These animals have no voice - they need our help.
I would love to hear about your experiences with the ASPCA or with your own furry friends - please feel free to share in the comments below.
Thanks - Jennifer :)
