FROM FISHING TO JEWELRY MAKING

I ran sport fishing charter boats on the gulf coast from Florida to Texas for almost 30 years. Two years ago I had a hip replaced and suffered severe nerve damage during the surgery so now, at least for another year or two, I can't walk very well and I can't do my job on the water...which is not only putting folks on fish but keeping them safe. Since I cannot return to the sea I fell back on a trade I learned about 40 years ago when I didn't have the patience to appreciate or use what I learned....lol. Silversmithing. 

I have found that I actually enjoy designing and making sterling silver and semi-precious gemstone jewelry. When I was 20 it was BORING!!! LOL I hope you like my work! Everything is genuine. I use no fake, dyed, or "treated" stones unless clearly stated in the title as well as the description. BEWARE OF FAKES FROM THE FAR EAST! THEY ARE EVEN "CREATING" LARIMAR NOW AND MOST DO NOT TELL YOU IT IS NOT REAL!!

Caribbean Larimar from the Dominican Republic has been my focus since the day I first saw this amazing stone. I still make other stuff...when I have to....but this unique and rare blue stone has captured my attention. It is absolutely amazingly beautiful! Those in the know say that this is the blue stone with extraordinary healing powers that Edgar Casey predicted would be found in the Caribbean near where he claimed the Lost City of Atlantis could be found. I hope you like it as much as I do!

Once in a while I find other vintage things to add to my "shop" but mostly it will be jewelry. I try to price everything as reasonably as possible considering the condition, quality and size of the gemstones and the intricacy of the silver work.

My daughter and I love sitting across "Granny's" dining room table from each other making jewelry. Bouncing ideas off each other. Digging through drawers, tubs and bags of beads. We come from a long line of jewelry lovin' women. And yes, we like it BIG!!! My grandmother, Granny's mother, used to say, "If you can't see it from across the room, why wear it." We love "Statement" jewelry!!! LOL

It never ceases to amaze me what beautiful things come out of the ground. I first fell in love with Turquoise when I was a young girl. On a family vacation to New Mexico, my father bought me my first Turquoise & Silver ring. Then there is RED! Red Coral is also a favorite! Sparkle is a MUST!!! Whether it's a crystal or a rhinestone, better yet both! Then there is the intricate work of a lamp work bead or the beautiful color in a glass bead. The fun part is putting a variety of things together for a unique, one-of-a-kind necklace. No two necklaces are exactly alike!!! And in our opinion, what's a necklace without earrings?!!! All of our necklaces come with matching earrings.

We do custom work too. Some of our local customers give us a blouse or dress to take home. We dive into our collection of beads and crystals for a set made to match! One friend gave me crystals from a chandelier that used to hang in her mothers house. And Granny gave me a fan pull, in the shape of a fish, that she had had for years. It's a lot of fun to use things like that.

Hello and welcome to My Gemstone Designs. My name is Hazel and I live in a small town in Wyoming where I work out of my home. I started beading almost 5 years ago and it has become my passion. I am retired so I can play as much as I like.

My goal is to create quality jewelry at a reasonable price for all to enjoy. My beading style is classic, simple designs that can be worn everyday. My jewelry is created using semi-precious gemstones, swarovski crystals, swarovski crystal pearls, freshwater pearls, seed beads, shells and more. For accent beads and clasps I use sterling silver, 14K gold filled and 24K gold vermeil.

I am blessed to be a stay-a-home mom of 2 wonderful girls and definitely a craft addict. In addition to designing jewelry, I also enjoy tole painting, scapbooking, cooking, gardening, landscaping, crocheting, photography, woodworking and love to work most of all with my husband on home improvement projects.

I have been designing and creating beautiful things for as long as I can remember. 

As a child I would sew little draw string bags and then sell them door to door for a nickle each. Which I promptly spent on penny candy at the corner store

In my teens I made plant hangers, wreaths, silk flower baskets, cloth boxes and more. I had a lot of fun with my glue gun in those days. 

In my 20's I got into weaving and jewelry making and it has evolved from there. 

I thoroughly love to create, either my design, or yours. It is where and when I feel most at peace.

I also have a deep love of nature, and when I am not creating inside, I can be found in my garden I refer to as My Little Utopia! 

I have a section in my shop titled Breast Cancer Awareness. 75% of the sales from this section will be going to support my Sister Meg a breast cancer survivor who was left deeply in debt from her battle, and is still in need of help.

All items listed in my shop I make by hand, mostly from my own designs, and some inspired by designs of others. (I always give credit where credit is due)

Do you have a favorite piece of fashion jewelry in need of repair? Contact me to see if it is something I can fix (pictures help a lot!) and if so I can make up a repair listing for you. Most repairs are $20, such as restringing necklaces, bracelets, and such. Hand knotting pearls is $4 an inch. 

All works and repairs are completed, and shipped from a SMOKE FREE environment; it is however, not a pet free. I have 2 dogs and a cat, so if you have allergies let me know, and your work can be created and shipped from another location. 

I do have access to a pet free location where I can create and ship your order from. I just need to know ahead of time. All jewelry is sealed in plastic as soon as it is made, and given a cleaning prior to shipment, if it has been in inventory for a while.

Hi, Welcome to Cobalt & Copper, my name is Cova; I was a jewelry artist that worked strictly with beads until I discovered wire-wrapping and found my passion, wire just speaks to me and I love what I do.

The Dragonfly is what started it all, I saw a dragonfly in a magazine and just had to make one, after weeks of experimentation, what I ended up with was a Dragonfly made of beads and copper wire. After giving them as gifts to all my friends and family, they encouraged me to try and sell them... Dragonflies are still my signature piece and one of my favorite things to make.

Most of my designs are largely inspired by the beauty, shapes, colors and textures found in nature. I use up-cycled materials whenever I can, I love that a bit of Sea Glass, a Discontinued Fabric Sample, Vintage Bead, Button or a left over Stained Glass Scrap makes each piece unique and one of a kind.

A Passion for Creating Beauty!

Ten or so years ago, I discovered and began to collect beautiful artisan lampwork beads. In time, the beads took on a life of their own and started coming to me in dreams, showing me how they were meant to be put together into earrings, bracelets and necklaces. I took this as a sign that it was time to ease out of the business of counseling and into the business of making beauty.

Working on simple projects where making beauty was the objective (rather than selling or marketing my work), I re-discovered joy, color, fun and, well, whimsy. 

Beading became a meditation and, in many ways, a spiritual practice. My spirit was lighter, my life filled with more grace, tranquility, peace and serenity. 

For a long time I worked quietly and privately at developing as an artist. One piece sold here, another there, and soon others were asking about and following my journey from therapist to artist. Not only was I counseling women and men who wanted to make fearless career leaps from stressful workplaces and situations, but I was modeling a leap of faith as well.

A decade later, my life as an artist has taken wing. Oh, I still love working with clients, teaching, gardening and all the other ways I make beauty come alive in the world around me. I have a versatile and interesting life. But creating the wearable jewelry art of Wild Woman Beads seems like my destiny, and I am grateful to have found it.

Hello, My Name is Edi) I have been making mostly wire wrap jewelry since summer of 2007. I enjoy making and designing jewelry and I very much enjoy custom orders.:)
Sometimes color determents the design, sometimes I know exactly what I need to do. I mainly use 925 sterling silver, or pure copper wire. I also like to oxidize my jewelry to give it some 'character' and or a bit of a vintage look, per say.

Stones... I use just about anything I can find.As long as it is unusual, and 'perfect'. I only use the best and the prettiest stones and crystals I can find. My favorite stones are .. Larimar, Vesuvianite, Andalusite, various fossil stones, Dinosaur bone, Labradorite.. and well ,..many more you'll find these and many more in my shop. I'm a rock hound and my search for the coolest stones never ends :)

Jennifer L. Smith has designed handmade art-to-wear for over fifteen years. She enjoys working in wire, metal, fiber and semi-precious gemstone beads. She won a Bronze Medal Award in Fire Mountain’s Pearls 2011 Contest and was a finalist in the 2011 and 2012 Bead Star Contests. She loves to show her work at outdoor art festivals including the Rockport Art Festival, the Corpus Christi Festival of the Arts, and monthly at the Corpus Christi Downtown Artwalk. Her artwork has been exhibited at Corpus Christi Creative Connections and the Art Center of Corpus Christi. She served on the Board of Directors for the Corpus Christi Festival of the Arts in 2012. Jennifer earned her MA in 2004 from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. She draws inspiration from nature when designing her handmade art-to-wear and mixed media artwork. Her methods include using recycled metal, wood, and other items as tools that she makes herself. Her copper and gemstone flowers are featured in both necklaces and wall hangings. I love designing hand cut gemstones to become beaded or wire wrapped earrings, bracelets and necklaces.

Born in Southern Louisiana, I learned sewing and creating with my hands gave me great pleasure, therapy and new things that I would otherwise not have been able to have. Living in Texas for the past 30 thirty years taught me that even though I prefer the cosmopolitan areas, there is still a Wild Wild West.

I feel like this is the dream chapter in my life, “ Do something you love and you will never work a day in your life."

I feel a natural closeness to gemstones from the earth and always enjoy learning about the metaphysical and healing properties of these elements of the earth. I love sharing this information with you and hope that my one of a kind pieces can have a positive impact on your lifestyle. My beaded and wire wrapped jewelry pieces are made from the finest quality elements and I take great pride in making sure your gemstone piece fits you properly.

Beaded Treasures to Wear

I have been creative and doing crafting since I was a little girl.
My grandmother taught me embroidery and simple beading. I have been "making things" ever since!
I started designing and making jewelry in 2007. A co-worker showed me a catalog for Fire Mountain Gems and I was hooked. I started learning all I could about beads, beading pattern and jewelry making. I discovered so many wonderful ways to express myself with beads!
My favorite type beadwork at this time was bead embroidery. I entered the Fire Mountain Beading contest in 2008 with a piece called "Vintage Sparkle" and I was a Finalist! It was such an honor to be a finalist in the first contest that I had ever entered! I opened my Etsy shop that same year!
I love to create beautiful pieces that make people happy! I spend most of my day working on one project or another. I just love the feel of the beads, the colors, textures, the patterns!
I would design and make jewelry even if no one ever bought any of it. I just love the process!

I Love Graphics ~ Scrabble Tiles, Button Earrings and Glass Dome Necklaces

Living is so expensive now. I like to make items that will work well as a gift , a party favor or a stocking stuffer. My earrings, Scrabble Tile Necklaces and Glass Dome Necklaces make great party favors for tweens, teens, bridesmaids and friends and YOU.

I love searching for graphics. I have thousands on my computer and have access to millions more. 

If you can think of it I am sure that I can create a an item just for you.

I also love color and I love making treasuries. You'll see that most of my treasuries feature bright colors.

I hate to admit it, but I am kind of a techo rebel. I spent over 10 years working as the Computer geek at a college campus. Loved the problem solving and teaching users and the interactions. Now I can not convince myself to blog, tweet (I do once in a while) or facebook.

I am a farm girl from Indiana, but have lived in Texas for almost 25 years so I am now a Texan.
I served on active duty in the U.S. Navy for 15 years. (I love red, white and blue Treasuries).
I am hooked on crafts. I like to try all kinds of crafts but mostly paper based now. I make paper mosaics (my husband says the paper is much nicer to step on than when I used colored glass.)
My husband retired from the U.S.Navy and just recently retired from a job as a college network engineer.
We are both very happy that he is home all the time. 
We are both ham radio operators and crafters.
